About CEED Concordia

CEED Concordia is a non-profit organization operating in Canada, Uganda and Colombia. We are an organization dedicated to social justice, community empowerment, and positive change by supporting youth in our communities. CEED offers Canadian and Ugandan students an opportunity to contribute to sustainable community projects in Uganda and more recently in Colombia. We are working to shape better communities and future leaders for a better tomorrow.

Our program is supported by a fee-levy of Concordia University’s undergraduate students, a tangible expression of Concordia’s commitment to civic responsibility and experiential learning. We strive to create opportunities for students to gain firsthand experience in the international community development sector. Every year, approximately 25-30 youth from both communities become involved with our program through internships, academic initiatives, and various positions within our organization in Canada and Uganda.

Job Summary

The Digital and Web coordinator is responsible for the management of CEED’s website and assists the team in all the other digital platforms. CEED Concordia went through restructuring of its program and needs to restructure its website in order to reflect the changes in the organization. Furthermore, the organization will need to optimize and organize its digital platform usage.

 Main Responsibilities

  • Develop websites, using content management system, templates and workflows
  • Primary administrator and orchestrator of site content
  • Work cross functionally with IT and internet security teams
  • Manage digital assets such as images and videos
  • Optimize websites and web pages for Search Engine Optimization and Search Engine Marketing  
  • Troubleshooting site, solving issues with content, links navigation, and user experience
  • Monitor and report analytics for websites
  • Provide technical support for all IT platforms, by providing direct support to CEED’s staff

Skills Requirements

Must demonstrate strong skills in the following areas: 

  • Experience in web-editing (WordPress), web project management and email marketing (Mailchimp) preferable.
  • Solid knowledge of IT systems and applications
  • Good understanding of SEO
  • Demonstrated fluency in English and French – written and spoken; with Spanish being a plus
  • Excellent oral and writing skills including the ability to synthesise information
  • Quick learner and problem solver with an inquisitive mind.
  • Highly organised with a strong attention to detail.
  • Able to deliver quality results under time constraints in a fast-paced environment.
  • Able to take initiative and work autonomously
  • Able to work in team
  • Able to work in an international environment

CEED Concordia is grateful to be able to offer this position to the DS4Y program. Hence the candidate must be able to respect all the criteria:

  • Be under 30 
  • Being a Canadian citizen, permanent resident, or person whom refugee protection has been conferred under the Immigration and Refugee Protection Act
  • Graduated from a Digital / Tech program 
  • Underemployed/ not employed

Frame 1; Racheal is a Journalism and communication finalist at Makerere University and a reporter with News 24/7 Uganda. She is committed to raising awareness about climate change and reporting on environmental issues. She is excited to collaborate with like-minded individuals and contribute to initiatives that empower communities, build resilience, and promote sustainable development.

Frame 2; Orla is a Communication Studies major at Concordia University, minoring in Irish Studies. She loves watching documentaries, playing music, travelling, and eating great food! She is most excited to collaborate with fellow interns and to get to know the community in Gulu!

Frame 3; Fiona is a passionate leader and mental health advocate. She is environmentally conscious, and dedicated to sustainability initiatives. She is excited to collaborate with interns worldwide, learn from diverse backgrounds, broaden her understanding and drive meaningful change in local communities.

Frame 4; Jackson is a third-year Journalism and Communication student at Makerere
University from Buliisa District, originally from Nebbi District. He is passionate about creating 
positive change in the community and impacting lives using his skills.
